DoubleTree Grand Ballroom
Dana Fuchs is an American singer, songwriter, and actress known for her blues-rock-soul-influenced music, as well as her role in the film
Across the Universe.
As a singer, she seamlessly blends numerous genres, a skill that she deftly matches with her soulful guitar playing.
She is a phenomenon of a singer whose hypnotic voice and presence have led critics to compare her to Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Tina Turner, and Mick Jagger.
Fast company indeed.
Fuchs’ diverse live performances feature wonderful mix of rock, soul, gospel, and blues, delivered with raw empathy and energy that has captured large audiences all over the world. She can be both deeply sensitive, vulnerable, and gentle on stage, while at the same time she can be a powerful and intense force of nature.
In addition to an impressive music career, she is also a widely known actress, most notably starring as Sadie in the cult film Across the Universe, which was nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globe Awards.
As mentioned, Dana’s voice invites comparisons to rock singer Janis Joplin. She was cast as the singer in "Love, Janis,” an off-Broadway musical about Joplin’s life.
Blues Blast Magazine wrote: "Dana’s raw, raucous voice has hints of Janis Joplin and Kim Carnes -- but is resolutely her own.”
Dana Fuchs is touring in support of her latest CD project -- Borrowed Time – which features a southern rock sound.
When not performing, Fuchs is an ambassador for the JED Foundation, an organization dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide among young adults.
