Davy Knowles is a late addition to the Reading Blues Fest lineup, replacing Dawn Tyler Watson, who, unfortunately, had to cancel her appearance due to COVID-related travel and visa issues with traveling from her home in Montreal.
Thankfully, Davy was available to join the co-bill with Victor Wainwright.
“Although the fest is disappointed that Dawn Tyler Watson had to cancel,” said John Ernesto, Reading Blues Fest general manager, “we totally understand her situation and support her decision during these challenging times for musicians and live shows.
“Fortunately for us, Davy and his band had a last-minute schedule change and were available.”
Davy Knowles burst onto the scene in 2007 with his band ‘Back Door Slam,’ garnering rave reviews, national US television appearances (Jimmy Kimmel Live, Good Morning America), extensive triple-A radio airplay, and two top-five Billboard Blues charting albums.

On his aptly-titled Provogue Records debut What Happens Next, roots singer-songwriter and guitarist Knowles boldly steps forward with timeless and cohesive songwriting; sleek modern production; and a lyrical, play-for-the-song guitar approach informed from soul, folk, rock, and blues. The 12-song album is just as influenced by The Black Keys, Fantastic Negrito, Gary Clark Jr., as it is Muddy Waters, Junior Kimbrough, and R.L. Burnside.
What Happens Next s something of a departure from Knowles’ fired-up and reverent take on blues and Americana, featuring poetic songwriting and soulfully emotive vocals that steal the show.
